Real Time SEO – Search, Right Now
Categories: Business

From the second I publish this article; chances are great that Google will index my site within the hour. That seems fast, but not when you put it into perspective.

Real Time SEO

The web, ever migrating to immediacy, left old school SEO behind, last year. With Twitter finally sniffing a smart trail, enabling search of real time chatter, it seems the modern mood of search has been set.

Content junkies are always blazing a trail for what’s the latest and greatest. As a matter of fact, so are consumers, creators and even historians. Historically, I want to know what is most relevant from the past, now. I want to know what is most connected to my quest, now.

I want to know what is the latest and greatest jacket I can buy, now. How about what, pick your favorite celebrity, is doing now. It’s the “Now Network”, damn you Sprint, for thinking!

The web is going to take another leap forward, when Google decides to get serious about real time search.

Recently I have taken pains to research this glimmering star of hope. Faced with a problem, in which I need to satisfy the immediacy of a sites limited frame of relevance, I have pondered the theory that a site can be the most relevant search at any given moment, for a moment.

The problem, Google, as good as it is, is still an historic engine. The sites I am looking to bring to the now, are sites that are moving so fast, I need to keep the motor running on the Google index bots. While I believe there’s a backdoor to making this happen, I am still trying to figure it out.

Interim to the solution, I know, based on this blogs performance, that the basics matter. What are they? Listed below are the simple steps I have taken to ensure my site is properly indexed, thus relevant as fast as possible.

The steps have delivered site index search results within 3 minutes, my fastest indexing to date.

The basics:

1. SEO friendly URL’s
2. Dynamically updated page meta tags (have not done yet)
3. Dynamically updated Google sitemaps
4. Proper alt tags on visual elements
5. Updated feeds for RSS
6. Real time Adwords… (have not done yet)

Speaking of real time. The strongest candidate for real time SEO is most likely going to couple real time Adwords campaigns. While most of us are not going to be interested in investing the time to get the Adwords API to work in this way, even though it still has a delay, Google is coming to the rescue.

In the coming months, Google will be launching a beta to a real time Adwords system that works off of RSS feeds. This fix suggests that Google is getting hip to the fact that the web is turning more immediate.

Digital strategists, SEO gurus, and merchants of marketing pay attention. As you role out your architecture for online, think about the how being the most relevant search at that moment, can power your site.

Can you dove tail PR buzz, into social take over, rolled in with your content or product goals? What we’ve learned from Twitter is…

Being the loudest mouth of the moment can get you noticed, for a moment.

Question: How can you be the most relevant mouth of the moment, again and again and again?

Have you seen any progress in this? While our site is not as dynamic enough to need anything real time, I am interested to know if there’s more information about this.
