The Influencer Algorithm – Loyalty & Retention Updated For Social Media
Categories: Business

If you have not seen “The Influencer Algorithm“ article by David Goetzl, on media post, you must. Anyone working with loyalty and retention should be taking notes and following suit. This thought provoking brilliant article challenges you to discover the lifetime value of influencers in the social media space.

While this might be a yawn to some, this is an area that marketers and branders need to understand. Much of the value of a customer is often mis-quantified, as it does not include the universe in which the customer lives. While we will never get the complete view of the customers world, at least social media gives us a little rabbit hole to dive into.

  1. Brad Fredricks says:

    Dang Lloyd,

I have to agree with you whole heartedly.

I too was enamored by the thoughts it provoked, not the article itself.

    Thanks,

    Brad

  2. I’ll agree that the article provides food for thought, viz. re-thinking how to calculate customer value — given the enormous potential value of influencers versus bystanders — but it was woefully thin on specifics and I couldn’t find anything “brilliant” about it at all. I thought I was missing “the rest of the article,” but it appears it’s just that one short page. It did get me to thinking, however, that better techniques for identifying and quantifying influencers are sorely needed. So thanks for the heads-up in that regard.
