I am not a fan of the word free. Nor am I a fan of online learning. I think I got one too many Pheonix University emails back in the day. Regardless, I have been happy to find some seriously awesome gems online this year.
My most recent favorite, the Youtube Yale Courses channel, with economics, english and more, is a treasure trove of classes I wish I had attended. This Youtube channel is almost as useful as You Suck at PhotoShop, although not as immediately.
In the spirit of higher learning, you might want to take a gander at these sites, so as to expand your mind, usefulness and cheesy intellectual insights for your next shoulder rub event.
TedTalks: Deep thinkers unite, the holy grail of awesome powerpoint presentations.
BigThink: Like TED.com, only sans really cool conference and historical value. BigThink brings idea’s and people together. Not as fun to watch, but useful none the less.
Yale Courses: Straight from the horses mouth. Missed Economics 252? No worries, checkout Yale courses as taught by the professors, for free!
YouSuckAtPhotoshop: Yea, I know. I already wrote about this, but that’s because it’s that damned good. Go learn how to use the stupid lasso already.
Got more? I want to hear from you. Please leave your favorites in the comment. Time to get the smart list going.
Enjoy,
Brad~
Sure, TED is great, I think I’d add either “Harvard Business Ideacast” or “Venture Voice” as two cool podcasts as well. : )
ROFL:
bad bar with comb-overs and Old Spice – they reek of desperation and cluelessness.
That is a gem of a metaphor.
I’m pretty podcast-centric, so here goes.
Anything from iTunes university is good. I also subscribe to a dozen business podcasts (Marketplace, Nightly Business Report, etc, etc, etc)…
As far as marketing podcasts, I dunno. There’s a lot of crap out there, and a few gems such as Joseph Jaffe, Managing the Gray Area, and Marketing over Coffee. The rest of the marketing podcasts remind me of a bad bar with comb-overs and Old Spice – they reek of desperation and cluelessness.
